Here are some life drawing, mainly gesture poses I've done. Learned some new stuff when doing this, plus it gets a bit confusing when you do a moving sequential... But all in all, good session I guess.

Pretty cool having a martial artist as a model compared to the usual models we get.

Speed painting for fun... Been playing Tekken 6 a lot recently. That game is too addictive!
Really like the new characters, specially Leo.

Been trying to play it online but its just so damn laggy, so been playing with my housemate. She says I cheat if I use combos on her, but she does spam a lot of Alisa's hard hits.

But yeah, that's all for now, just wanted to mess about with photoshop. Took about 1 hour. I did some progress shots, but I don't think there's much point posting it since they're quite big leaps in process...

Study of Rubens

Been looking for ways to improve myself. So I did some more artist study that is quite different to how I would shade. It was recommended by one of my tutors. I knew that I wasn't going anywhere with my drawings because I looked through my work from 4 years ago and I saw the same style I had before, but just more refined...

When I was talking to my tutor that time, he said that it was a good thing that I notice my own weakness, because other people don't usually, once they get comfortable with what they have or if they've developed a routine or a style, they tend to stick to it, not knowing that they're stuck in a rut. He also said that I picked the best film to work on, because it suits my style, but it doesn't help me on the life drawing department because it's very graphic.

This just means I have to work harder eh?... Heh... I guess this really is my year of improvement. Need to crack on with some digital painting too. Haven't done that since Uni started...

A Levels

Here are some very old image I found in my sketchbook. These were done when I was in college, about 4 years ago? Yeah, I love painting with oils, need to practice them again because I have forgotten how to paint...

Went out to do some more night drawings, nothing much to draw except the road and cars. Got some fairly good results though. Would have done more, but there wasn't anything that interesting to draw really...

Today in life drawing we had a martial arts model posing for us. Quite exciting at first but then got extremely tedious towards the end, and I completely flopped it... They made us do 5 second drawings as our last exercise, and I don't think you'd want to see the result haha. But all in all a good session. Learned something new today, but I think the tutor was giving the same advice to everyone... Will post some up once I get a scan of them.

I also watched a film with my housemates, it was called 'The Descent'... According to people, it was one of the most 'scariest' film they've seen... But I didn't even jump one bit in that film... It just irritated the hell out of me because of the dumb characters. And the stupid monster looks like Voldemort.... So yeah. No. It doesn't even come close to being scary.

2nd Year Life Drawing

Yeah, I feel like I need to do more of these... Comparing them to my first year's work, they do look slightly better, but they still have the same sort of feel to it... Maybe it's just the way I draw.


I will be posting more of these soon. Got a huge pile of these in my USB.


As for news, I got nothing... I went to Brighton for the weekend, just to sort some stuff out. My mum's not feeling very well, so that's the reason I went down to visit. She's been away from work for about a month now so I got concerned.

I was rummaging through the storage closet last night and I found some of my old books from A-Levels haha. I was surprised with what I saw... I've came to a conclusion that i now suck at painting and I need to practice more. My books from A-Levels were so much better hahahahahaha. That's what I get for relying on digital painting I guess... I need to start using some oil paints again. I really like using them. But yeah, I'll post some of the pages from my old stuff here soon, just need to get hold of a scanner....

Sculpture Studies

Went to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

So did a few sketches of some sculptures. It's quite annoying drawing black sculptures 'cause they're not so easy to shade... But all in all a good trip!

I've got more stuff scanned now, so I'll be updating more often this time around!

Been finalizing characters this week. Did some tweaking with my old sketch. Had to redraw it and make it clearer since the shadows are quite confusing...

Advanced Photoshop Feature

Hey guys, I haven't updated since I've started uni... This is due to having no access to my computer... I also had some trouble when I was formatting it, but now it's all clean and running smoothly. I'm trying to install windows7 but for some reason the file I downloaded [the official one] doesn't seem to extract itself...

Apart from that, I have been cracking on with uni for about 3 weeks now. We've done a lot of stuff in a short amount of time. And for the record, I'm ill because I went out drawing one night and it was cold as hell. As I've said before, I'm working a film called Pure Funk. So far it's been going well. I've been doing a lot of character design, but am now slowly moving on to layouts.

Sorry Jim, I'll still help you out. You're officially my student, and I want to pass on as much knowledge as I can to you. So keep working.

... But yeah, I'll Post some material some time.

Anyway, about this post, I just wanted to share with you a scan of my feature page on this month's advance Photoshop. That's pretty much it. Will update more soon.

Semester Starts Monday!

Not this coming Monday, but the following, the 5th of Oct.

Anyway, here's something I did today. I was doing some artist study on Raphael.
Just trying to get a good idea of how to paint using pale colors for the skin. I really like it in old paintings so I thought I'd give it a try.

This was Originally just gonna be a random person, but it ended up as Hidan from Naruto haha.. anyway, yeah, hope you like it ^^.

I like the result, need to practice more in the use of colors, there's quite a lot of tones there, even greens and mauves. But yeah. That's all for now.

Hmmm... Summer holiday's almost over, two more weeks till I move in to my boarding house.
Had a good summer overall. Done some stuff to keep me occupied. Seeing friends regularly was a plus, as well as seeing some old class mates before they go back to uni.

Been listening to Jay-z and Cudi's new albums. they're both awesome. I specially like Jay-z's 'Empire state of mind' track. Been so obsessed with it haha. Anyone else listened or heard of Milow? He's a Belgian artist, and his debut album is pretty good. Here, check it out.

Talking about music, I gave in and finally bought an ipod... I always thought I didn't need one and I'm not a big fan of apple products, but an ipod is another necessity in life I guess haha. Another news is that How I Met Your Mother is back!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watched the episode today, it was awesome haha. Damn they sure know how to play with cliff hangers. Heroes is also back, but I only watched one episode and fell asleep on the second half haha. Had a craving for chocolate today... Very bad... Damn my sister for buying those chocolate cupcakes!

Phew, been busy moving stuff back to my new accommodation. Also my aunt is now renting my room for the mean time, so I had to help her move stuff around. Tiresome.

Been playing Resident Evil 5. So addictive ><... I can't stop playing mercenaries and versus! Haha. It's really funny listening to players online. They chat the most random things... There was this south American guy who I was playing with and he just kept shouting 'cuidado!' lol... [means 'help']. But yeah, didn't know there were a few female gamers... Quite strange for me haha. But yeah, tis good fun. Batman Arkham Asylum has pretty sick graphics! Havent played it much yet though. Just the intro part. But it looks promising.

Chiu Chiu!

Erm, yeah... Entering Bobby Chiu's Coloring competition!

If you don't know, Bobby has been one of my most inspiring artist since his first debut on IMFX. I have learned a great deal from his tutorials, podcasts and a his words of wisdom when it comes to art. Hehe... Just like the quotation I use as a banner for this blog.
Anyway, yeah. If you still haven't, check this guy out. His subway sketches really helped me out when it came to inspiration, specially now that I'm doing animation, we need to draw everywhere we go. So his idea of sketching down the subway was a huge help. I absolutely love his sketches too. Very stylized, yet simple.

MY BIKE!!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Those fuckers at uni snatched my bike away waaaa! I'm soooooo pissed! that damn bike costed me! They didn't even say in the beginning that we weren't aloud to leave bikes through out the holiday... So sad now... I have to get a bike next term... uh!!! FUUUCK!

Anyway, let's be positive! I got a PS3 slim wooo!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to play it... Yeah, I don't know, but why are all the PS3 games shooting genres??? They all have the exact settings as one another aswell! All city-scaped themes and apocalyptic times.... It annoys the hell out of me! I can't wait for Tekken 6 and FF13 though. Finally get to play Resident Evil 5! Woop woop! And I cant wait to play my friends on trash panic hehe.

On the other note, I went to see my sister who I haven't seen in more than a year! It was good catching up with her. But that's about the most interesting thing I've done this week lol. I think Ebay just stole some money off me... So I'm currently in dispute with those bastards... Rawr! ebay fraudsters!
